What Makes the Weather?

Homework week 1/2:

*Read "What Makes the Weather?" at least five times with your child. Use the bookmark that explains the process of evaporation to mark where you left off with reading the book.

*Use the weather chart and put a dot to represent what it is like daily.

*Count the types of weather throughout the week and tally the types of weather.

*Model use of weather words in relation to clothes you need to wear for the day,

e.g., "Today it is cold, so you will need a coat, etc."

Homework week 2/2:

*Read "What Makes the Weather?" at least five times with your child. Use the bookmark that explains the process of evaporation to mark where you left off with reading the book.

*There is a copied book in your child's book bag about the weather. Have your child

draw what he/she would wear for the different types of weather, e.g., rain/umbrella and

boots, sunny/cap, shorts and T-shirt, etc.

*Use the weather chart provided the week before this lesson to tally the weather for another week.

Return the separate tally sheet of the last weeks weather report. Discuss which weather icons have "the same," "more," and/or "less."

*Count the types of weather throughout the week and tally the types of weather.
