We Are All Alike, We Are All Different

Week 1

  • Literacy: Read the book We Are All Alike, We Are All Different with your child and have your child name similarities and differences of the pictures at least three times.

  • Fine motor/writing/language: Draw a picture of your family and write their names by the picture of the person and send the picture with your child to the next Literacy Group.

  • Fine Motor/auditory processing: Cut one set of minimal pair pictures that rhyme provided by the SLP. When the adult names the picture, the child matches the picture, e.g., tap/cap, tea/key, etc. Keep these for your use.

Week 2

  • Literacy/Verbal Language: Have your child read the pictures of the book to you at least three times. Model expanded sentences. For example, if your child says, "boy." Say, "The boy has brown hair," etc.

  • Language: Label and sort items in your home while doing chores around the house like laundry, eating utensils, toys, etc.
