Guess Where?

Lesson one of two:

*Read the book, "Guess Where?" which leads to using

many prepositional words while trying to find pictures in

the book. Often times, children use the word "there" to

indicate where items are placed. If your child uses that

global word, model a specific word instead, e.g.,

"The ball is under the table, etc."

*Next the children will listen to the song, "Movement

with a Circle." The students will follow the directions of the

song while listening to the music. Many of the directions

involve prepositions so the children move "in," "out,"

"next to," "in front," and "behind" their own hoop.

*The students will find toys (hippo, tiger, bus, lamb, bee,

rocket, dog bone, fire engine, spider ball, star fish) that are

hidden in the book. When they find the toy, they will label

where they found it using prepositions, e.g., "The hippo is

behind the chair, etc."

Lesson two of two:

*The children will help the teacher read, "Guess Where?"

First children demonstrate understanding of words.

Then, they label them. If the children don't recall the

preposition, an opposite can be given as a cue, e.g.,

"It is not in the box. It is ___ of the box, etc."

*The children will complete an obstacle course by following

verbal directions with prepositional concepts. The children

will go in front, over, under, through, on top, etc.

*The children will look at the book with the teacher. She will

ask them to tell about other pictures using prepositions, e.g.,

"Where is the boy?" "Next to his mom."
