If You Take a Mouse to the Movies
Lesson one of two:
If you take a mouse to the movies, he'll ask you for some popcorn. If you give him
some popcorn, he'll want to string it all together. Then, he'll want to hang it on a
Christmas tree. Prior to reading this book, the students will go through a picture
walk. They will talk about the cover, flip through a few pages and make predictions
about what the book is about and what they think will happen.
The students will complete "The Five Senses of Winter" writing activity while
using their senses to describe the experiences of winter. If they have a loss
of ideas, they will flip through a few pages of If You Take a Mouse to the Movies.
Lesson two of two:
The children will share the picture and the writing that they completed for
homework about the movie that they watched with their toy mouse. Then,
they will retell the story while identifying cause and effect relationships
in the book.
The students will complete a writing stem of, "If you take me to the movies, I will ask
for ..."
