BINGO

Lesson plan week 1/2:

Read Bingo while taking away dye cut letters that are placed on

hands. By pairing singing with letter recall, children learn letters

automatically by combining them into a word.

Match clothespins to letters of their name. Then sing the

letters of their name to the tune of BINGO.

Children learn and recall what they have been taught when

new concepts are paired with movement. They will, therefore,

complete an obstacle course to learn letters and specific

vocabulary words: 1.) Throw bean bags at the initial

letter of their name. 2.) Jump over photos of pets, e.g., cat, dog,

fish, lizard, hamster. 3.) Push the Leap Frog ABC

letter of their name and then crawl through the tunnel

while saying the sound of their letter. The activities are

sequenced by color, green, yellow and then red.

Lesson plan week 2/2:

Read Bingo while taking away dye cut letters that are placed on

hands. By pairing singing with letter recall, children learn letters

automatically by combining them into a word.

Children will sort letters that are in their name and not in their

name on two separate boards. If they master identifying letters

in their first name, then they will practice finding letters of

their last name that are and are not in his/her last name. When

learning new concepts, children match, point and then say

them. If children are frustrated with recalling letters, have

them match or point to the letters. Getting two sets of

refrigerator magnets is a great way to match letters.

Complete an obstacle course to teach letter and word concepts.

1.) Throw bean bags at initial letter of their name. 2.) Jump over

pets; cat, dog, fish, lizard, hamster. 3.) Push the Leap Frog

ABC letter of their name and then crawl through the tunnel

while saying the sound of their letter.
