Creating your own website

It is important that you communicate what you have accomplished and learned during this session with your friends, family, and the world!

Once you have your own gmail account set up, navigate to Google sites: https://sites.google.com/ and enter your gmail address and password. Click Sign in.

- Click the Create button at the top

In the new page that appears, click the Create button on your upper left corner.

Let's add some text. For example: Welcome to my page! Here you can check out all the great maps that I've learned during my GIS session on ArcGIS Online!

Click the Save button to save your edits.

Congratulations! You just created your own website!

Editing your Site

To start editing your site, go to the Edit page button on the top right corner of your screen (pencil button).

Creating sub-pages

It is always a good idea to keep your website organized and easy to follow. Since you will be using different technologies and creating different outputs, let's organize your website accordingly.

To add a sub-page, click the New Page button in the middle of the toolbar on your upper right corner. In the new screen that appears, do the following:

- Name your page: "My first interactive map with Arcgis Online"

- Select a template to use: change it from Web Page to File Cabinet (allows to you upload your own files very quickly)

- Select a location: select Put page under Home

Notice how your sub-page is now listed automatically on the left hand-side of your website.

Repeat these steps to create two other sub-pages:

- My first web apps

Congratulations! You have successfully created and edited your first website.
