GIS Training for Clemson Public Services and Agriculture

Welcome to the CCGT's GIS training website for Clemson's Department of Plant Industry . In this training series we will cover the following:The first day of training will introduce you to the fundamental skills and concepts of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The activities will demonstrate how to preview GIS data, make a map from data and edit the map symbology, and export a map to PDF. You will be then exposed to create your own GIS dataset from scratch in order to use it for data collection in the field using the Collector for ArcGIS application on your mobile devices.

The second day of training will allow you to go out in the field to use your own created dataset for data collection. The collected data will then be used to bring in the web platform of ArcGIS called ArcGIS Online which will allow you to use, create, and share maps, GIS apps, layers, analytics and GIS data.

With ArcGIS Online you get access to Esri's secure cloud, where not only you can add your data and publish it online, but you also get access to ready-to-use maps, data and template apps. We will cover the following concepts:

- Creating basic web maps with ArcGIS Online

- Adding data from ArcGIS Online Portal to the map

- Creating a story map
