In this section, you will use a Web Map that you created previously to develop a new interactive dashboard of COVID-19 cases in South Carolina that looks similar to this one: https://furman.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/73c393e83be940fc841c7939f325d0e0
1. ArcGIS Online: Make a copy your Health ranking and COVID-19 map
Go to ArcGIS Online, by opening up a browser and typing www.arcgis.com. Log in with your arcgis online account and password. In the top menu, go to Content - My Content. Click on the Health ranking and COVID 19 by YourInitials Web Map. In the window that appears, select Open in Map Viewer.
We are going to modify this map, but first, save it with a different name. On the top of the map, click Save - Save As. In the Save Map window, type: Health ranking and COVID-19 for dashboard by YourInitials. Click Save Map.
2. Cleaning up symbology and layer names
In this step, we will clean up layer names and the symbology so our dashboard is clear and effective. Let's start with the layers' names:
- Rename USA States (Generalized) to States (under the layer, select the ... called More Options and click Rename)
- Rename COVID-19 Cases US to COVID-19 by County
- Rename County Health Rankings 2020 - County to Health Rankings by County
Remove the States layer from the legend by clicking the More Options and selecting Hide in legend.
COVID-19 by County:
Notice how Greenville is missing from the map. This is because the number of deaths are higher than 79. Let's re-do the symbology so we fix this problem.
Select Change Style. In step 2, click OPTIONS in the Counts and Amounts (Size) option at the top. Un-check the box next to Classify Data. Click OK and DONE.
Health Rankings by County:
Let's add % to the legend so it is clear what the classification means. Click on Change Style - Step 2 - Counts and Amounts (Color) - OPTIONS - Legend.
Classify Data using Equal Interval. Round classes to 1 integer. Click on Legend and change each category to say:
8% To 16%, 17% To 25%, 26% To 33%, 34% to 41%
Click OK and DONE. Save your Map. Share your map with the Public (Share - Everyone).
