Stop and Say

Stop and Say

  1. Have students pair up to read a given selection of text.
  2. They should read silently and simultaneously to designated stopping points.
  3. When each partner is ready, have them “stop” and “say” something.
  4. The something might be a question, a brief summary, a key point, an interesting idea, or a personal connection.
  5. Continue the process until pairs have completed the selection.
