Circle the Sage
Circle the Sage
- A question is posed by the teacher or students.
- Ask for 3 to 4 volunteer “sages” who feel they can answer the question.
- They do not need to be experts; they just need to have information to share.
- Have the sages move to different locations in the room.
- An equal number of students “circle” around each sage. (Teams break up so all sages are heard by someone in each group.)
- Sages answer the original question.
- Learners thank the sages for sharing their knowledge and return to home teams.
- Team members share what they learned with one another.
This strategy works well to address group questions.
