World History Scope & Sequence
Essential Learner Outcomes
SO.WH.1 - The student will employ chronology to understand change and/or continuity and cause and/or effect in history.
SO.WH.2 - The student will learn to judge the past on its own terms and use that knowledge to understand present day issues, problems, and decision-making.
SO.WH.3 - The student will use the tools and methods of historians to transform learning from memorizing historical data to “doing history”. In addition, the student will analyze documents, records and data to formulate a personal perspective.
SO.WH.4 - The student will explain historical events with multiple interpretations rather than explanations that point to historical linearity or inevitability.
SO.WH.5 - The student will build on an understanding of cultural, institutional, and technological precedents that, along with geography, set the human stage.
SO.WHSO.WH.6 - The student will become aware of specific themes that provide further organization to the course, along with the consistent attention to contacts among societies that form the core of world history as a field of study.
