FLACS
FLACS
FLACS [1] is the industry standard for CFD explosion modeling and one of the best validated tools for modeling flammable and toxic releases in the technical safety context.
Important Notes
FLACS is a licensed Software* and is available only for YeongAe Heo's group
It is only available in SMP queue for now
For better visualization experience, you may want to run FLACS in your PC and access the licensee from HPC cluster. Follow the procedure in section "Remote PC" below.
Running FLACS in HPC
Interactive Job
Request a compute node. It is recommend to refer to HPC visual access for better GUI experience.
srun -p smp --x11 -t 4:00:00 --mem=200gb -c 8 --pty bash
Copy the examples directory from /usr/local/doc/FLACS and cd to ex01_explosion
cp -r /usr/local/doc/FLACS/examples .
cd examples/ex01_explosion
Load FLACS module
module load flacs
Run Flacks Manager:
run runmanager
The GUI will open and on the Tools menu, click Casd.
It will run the Casd program and open a new GUI
In this GUI, click File -> Open _> Choose or type 100001.caj, and click open
If any error message, click OK.
Use the mouse to examine the structure

For the details, open the Manual.
Copy the PDF file
cp /usr/local/doc/FLACS/FLACS-manual.pdf .
Open the PDF.
evince FLACS-manual.pdf
For other online manuals, Help -> Online Help -> search -> search for: "Network License"
Remote PC
Notes:
For better visualization experience, you may want to run FLACS in your PC and access the licensee from HPC cluster. Follow the procedure below:
Flacs does not run in Mac as well as Bootcamp for Mac)
Install the Software in your machine clicking the appropriate link to binary given to you.
Open the License Manager (LM) by typing http://localhost:1947 in the browser
In LM page that opens, go to the configuration page, and open the tab "Access to Remote License Managers". Make sure "Allow Access to Remote Licenses" is checked, and enter the IP-address of the computer having the license key in the "Specify Search Parameters" box. Email HPC admin for the IP address.
Click the submit button
Test - Follow the "Interactive Job" section above.
