Detailed Member Access vs. Guest Access
Member Access
Each job submitted by a Member may not exceed 320 hours of walltime.
There is currently a limit of 2000 jobs in the queue for the research group
The number of jobs that a research group runs at a time will be determined by the Member/Guest level:
1-unit membership typically provides up to 128 processors at a time
Each unit increase the number of available processors linearlyThere is max limit of 6 (GPU cards) x n (unit of membership) GPU resources. As an example, for 2-unit membership, up to 6 x 2 (=12) GPU cards can be used at a time.
The group will be provided a soft and hard disk quota of 700 and 920GB in their collective /home directories. This quota cannot be expanded since the space is backed up with a month-long snapshot and multiple replication. You can get more storage space on the HPC storage or Research Storage by contacting us.
On occasion a member may reserve all (or a portion) of the processors representing his/her membership share for exclusive use. This reservation must be made far enough in advance (up to two weeks) in order that jobs already running do not interfere with the reservation. When a member has an exclusive reservation in effect, any processors used by that member’s jobs in excess of his/her membership share will run with guest priorities in effect. The use of these exclusive reservations will be reviewed periodically by the faculty governance body. As membership in the HPC Resource provides significant benefits associated with the sharing of resources, requests for permanent exclusive use will not be allowed.
Member jobs are given higher priority ahead of Guest jobs.
Guest Access
Each job submitted by a guest may not exceed 36 hours of walltime.
The total number of processors in simultaneous use by jobs within a Guest group is limited to 24.
The total number of jobs permitted to run and/or be pending simultaneously within a Guest group is limited to 48.
Guest has a maximum usage of 1 GPU card at a time.
Each Guest group will be provided a soft and hard disk quota of 150 and 260GB in the collective /home directories of the group.
