Diabetes

A workshop on how to help students with diabetes. This workshop is for all humans in the Arp Independent School District.

This workshop should take ~ 2.5 hours to learn how to assist students with diabetes and is mandated by Federal Law. Do not rush through this information.

Level 1 training requires that you read and understand the Primer section of this handbook (Pages 1-61) AND the Actions that you are required to take (handouts attached at bottom of this page for any and all roles that you are assigned to in Arp Schools).

If you don't read the material, you will not pass the quiz.

(1) Please become familiar with the information in this handbook so that you are able to assist students and demonstrate your understanding by answering a few questions concerning how you might help a student with diabetes.
(2) Locate Diabetes Resources for Schools & Youth  &  watch Slide Presentation below

Diabetes-Guide-Presentation-Slides-508.ppt

(5) Know how to effectively manage diabetes at school. Pages 15-18  Are you on the School Health Team? Do you have a student in your class with diabetes? Is the student on a 504 plan? IEP? Pages 19-26
