Introduction to Robotics
Goal: The Goal of Day 1 Robotics Boot Camp is to give students an overview of robotic uses, terms, vocabulary and basic systems.
(1) Learner will understand the wide variety of uses of robotics in all areas of life.
(2) Learner will become fluent in robotic/systems terms and vocabulary.
(3) Learner will demonstrate understanding of systems thinking and implementation.
Pre-Knowledge Discussion: (10 minutes)
What do you know about robotics?
What are robots made from?
How are robots used in the real world?
Why do we use robots?
How are robots programmed? What programming languages are used most often?
Research:
Use the questions above to expand your understanding of robotics by research each topic. (10 minutes). Class discussion of any additional information found. (5 minutes)
Day 1 Videos & Post Video Discussion Questions (25 minutes):
Boston Dynamics - What is the purpose of these robots? Why are they designed to imitate a human or animal?
Oscar - What is Oscar made from? Why is Oscar made this way? What might be the future use of robots like Oscar?

Basic Vocabulary about Systems (10 Minutes):
List all types of devices that allow input into a computer system
List all types of devices that allow output from a computer system
List all components in a computer system
If you are unfamiliar with these items, research them! Be ready to discuss.
