Joy
a time for everything
I dug this German made stein out of the cellar this week where it has languished most of its life. It was sent to my wife from her high school friend who was doing Peace Corps in the Middle East. Seems to be a special Reinhold Merkelbach (one on ebay for $95). Donated to my German Stein collector friend, Colleen.
Had never translated it till now - had just liked the looks of it. But it has great meaning to life.
Auch die freud(e) hat ihre zeit translates to "Also joy has its time".
Remember the Byrds 1965 tune "Turn, Turn, Turn". To everything there is a season. This is the same message from the Bible Ecclesiastes 3-8 To everything there is a season ( so it must be true).
Schöne Weiber sind gute Zeitvertreiber means "Beautiful women are good time distributors". To honor a German collector of steins, I've now donated this one.
To find joy and to bring joy to others gets you into heaven. If there is a heaven, it sounds like a cool place to go.
