May 10th, 大雄山駅出発の５月のハッシュは、とてもよい天気に恵まれました。（少々遠かったですが・・） 集まったハッシャ―は32人、中でバージンは11人ほど。 12キロほどのイーグルトレイルと、５キロほどのターキートレイルにそれぞれ分かれて出発しました。 私はターキートレイルを選択。 清々しい青空、乾いた美味しい空気、いざ出発！ ・・・が、しかし。最初から困難にぶつかりました。 １キロも行かないうちに川にぶつかったのですが、橋の手前に「Walk」と、右折のアローが。 ターキー組は素直に川に沿って右折したものの、行けども行けども次のアローもオンオンもありません。 DragonflyやSweety、計７人ほどでウロウロと捜すこと20分ほど、Sweetieの「オンオン！」コールが。 焦ったヘアのLolita Bastardが、川を渡ったところに引くはずのアローを、橋の手前で描いたために、パックは混乱したのでした。 さて、パックは気を取り直し、楽しくお喋りしながら時々歩いたり走ったり、トレイルを進みます。 途中、Sweetieが、「ん？？いい香りがする！あの白い花は何の花？」と、とある畑に何本も植えられている木の名前を聞きます。本当、ジャスミンみたいな馨しい白い花をつけた木を度々見かけましたが、植物に疎い私には名前がわかりません。 するとDragonflyがすかさず、「あれはOrange Blossamよ！」と教えてくれたのです。他にも咲いていたいろいろな木、花の名前を次々に指摘してくれたDragonfly。植物に詳しいって、何となく素敵ですよね。 畑や川を越えて進んで行くも、パックは何度となくアローを見失います。特に分かれ道にアローがない時は迷いました。 フィニッシュしてからLolitaに聞くと、それもそのはず。なんと、アローを引くのにチョークを１本しか持って行かなかったとのこと。おーーーい！チョーク１本じゃ足りません！次は１箱持って引いてください（笑） トレールは眺めのいいView Pointを通り、やっと「Bear Near」が！フィニッシュのアサヒビール園に着きました。 イーグルトレイルの人達もちょうど次々にフィニッシュしてきました。ハッシャ―達は「長過ぎる！」「暑かったし、自販機もなかったのでビアストップが必要！」とブーイング。 TLH3のWebsiteを作ってくれたアメリカ人のWebmasterが、「人生で避けられないもの。それは死、税金、ハッシャ―の文句。大丈夫、君はよくやった！」とヘアマニュアルに書いていたけれど、けだし名言ですね。 閑話休題。フィニッシュでは各フィニッシャーに１本のビール、サンドイッチ、「まさかりコロッケ」が配られました。足柄山→金太郎→まさかり・・なのでしょうか。美味しかったですが。 そしてダウンダウン、じゃなくてサークルの後、お待ちかねのビール工場ツアーへ！ 騒がしい（そして既にビール臭のする）ハッシャ―は足早に見学を終え、いよいよ、試飲会場へ！ ３種類のフレッシュなビールを試飲し、バスに乗り、新松田駅までバスに乗ったのでした。 オンオンパーティに出ない、気の短い、そしてブルジョワなハッシャ―２人、CrusaderとOld Socksはタクシーに乗り込んで「サヨナラ～」。 新松田のイタリアンレストランへのオンオンパーティには、24人が参加しました。 残念ながら私は不参加でしたので、パーティのレポートはPlutinum Porkにお願いしました。 トレイルも試飲も含めて、とっても楽しい５月の葉山ハッシュでした。ヘアと、ご一緒いただいた皆さん、ありがとうございました。

さてON-ONですが 新松田「CER TO! PIZZERIA」というイタリアンレストランでした。

①オードブル 海老のマリネ 生ハム スパニッシュオムレツ ズッキーニのグリル オレンジのマリネ (オレンジの薄切りに岩塩とオリーブオイルでマリネし自家製ドレッシングで合えたもの) 各々少しずつ人数分あり戴きやすく洗練された味でした。

②サラダ グリーンサラダ ルッコラ、トマト、パルメジャーノなどが入ったさっぱりしたサラダ

③ピザ２種類 ・マルゲリータ、イタリアの唐辛子オイル付き ・クアトロチーズ、ハチミツ付き 各々、オイルやハチミツがマッチして とても美味しい。

④パスタ２種類 ・子牛肉、ひよこ豆のソースのペンネ ・サーモン、ナッツとローズマリーのスパゲッティ(ニンニク、玉ねぎ、サルタナ、ヘーゼルナッツ入り) ペンネもスパゲッティも硬めで美味しく、各々が思いがけない組み合わせで新鮮でした。 オイルで絡めただけのあっさりした味付け。

⑤ドリンク ワイン、カクテル、ソフトドリンク全て飲み放題。 ORZO(オルゾ)というイタリアの麦茶が日本の昔の麦茶みたいで美味しかった！

＊まとめ＊

お店は清潔で外観も可愛らしいお店。スタッフの感じもすごくよくお庭には薪が積んであったりハーブが植えてあったり雰囲気もステキ。 味も全体的に薄味でヘルシーな感じで美味しかった。 お箸も出してくれて、食べやすかったです！

総合的に、とてもよいオンオンパーティでした。 ヘアの方々、どうもありがとうございました！！！

May 10th - the May hash starting from Daiyouzan was blessed with fine weather (although a bit far…) 32 hashers assembled with 11 virgins. Hashers divided into the eagle trail of 12 kilometres and the turkey trail of 5 kilometres and started off. I chose the turkey trail. Ready to go in the fresh blue sky and the refreshing savoury air!…However, we stumbled on the first block! We had hardly gone 1 km when we hit the river with a “walk” sign with an arrow to the right. The turkey group simply followed this along the river but no signs of an arrow nor an on-on! Dragonfly, Sweetie and another 5 hashers went sniffing for a trail for some 20 minutes when alas we heard Sweetie’s call of On on. Lolita Bastard in his haste had put the arrow before the bridge instead of after! The pack then regrouped in good cheer walking and running at times. Sweetie suddenly asked ”What’s that lovely fragrance? What’s those pretty white flowers? pointing to some bushes in the field. I saw some white flowers that looked like jasmine but I didn’t recognize them as flowers are not my forte. At this point, Dragonfly let me know immediately “they are Orange Blossoms”. Dragonfly continued to tell me the names of other flowers and trees one by one. Its kind of nice to be knowledgeble about fauna. We advanced, crossing fields and rivers, losing arrows many times. In particular, when there were no arrows at crossroads, we got lost. When I asked Lolita about this afterwards - all was revealed! He only had one chalk for drawing all the arrows! Hey, one is not enough - take a whole box next time (laugh)! The trail passed a beautiful View Point and at long last after a “Beer Near” we reached the finish at the Asahi Beer Park. The eagle trail hashers started to arrive at the finish one by one. Hashers complained “ Too Long, tt was hot- we needed vending machines and a beer stop” amidst a lot of booing. The Webmaster for TLH3 wrote on the Hare manual, “The only certain things in life are death, taxation and hashers’ complaints, you did well”. Indeed well said! Back to the proceedings. At the finish every finisher was given one beer, a box of sandwiches and Masakari croquette (so named probably as Kintaro of Ashio mountain carried a masakari, an axe)It was good! No down-down but we had a circle after with we went on to the beer tour! The noisy pack (who already stank of beer!) finished the tour as quickly as possible and rushed into the beer tasting room! After tasting 3 different kinds of beer, we got on the bus to ShinMatsuda. The impatient and bourgeois pair who were not going to the on-on party, Crusader and Old Socks, bid us Sayonara after jumping into a taxi! 24 hashers joined the on-on party at the Italian Restaurant in Shin Matsuda. Unfortunately, I could not attend so I have left the report of the party to Platinum Port. Both the trail and the beer tasting made the May Hayama Hash a most enjoyable event. The On-On was at an Italian restaurant called Certo Pizzeria at Shin Matsuda.

First course - Hors d’oeuvres of marinated shrimps, prosciutto crudo, Spanish omelet, grilled zucchini, grilled marinated oranges (thin slices of oranges with seasalt and marinated in olive oil). Very sophisticated taste and enough of each to go around.

Salad - Green salad with ruccola, tomatoes and parmegiano - very light salad.

Two kinds of Pizza - Margarita with Italian chilli peppers and oil, and Quatro Formaggio with honey. The Oil and cheese matched well and was delicious.

Two kinds of Pasta - Lamb and chick peas with penne, and salmon, nuts and rosemary with spaghetti (with garlic, onions, sultana and hazelnuts). Both the penne and spaghetti were al dente and the combination of tastes was refreshing. Very simple flavouring using just oil.

Drinks were wine, cocktails, soft drinks on nomihoudai basis. There was a drink called Orzo which as an Italian version of traditional Japanese Mugicha and delicious!

S ummary: The restaurant was clean and looked charming. The staff were very helpful and in the garden, there was a pile of logs and a herb garden creating a lovely atmosphere. The taste was in general light and healthy. They also served us chopsticks so it was easy to eat. A great on-on party all round. Thank you hares!!!
