What a wonderful day to hash. It began at the East side of the Train station which took 4 of us about 20 minutes to find. This was indeed telling me I was in for a nice long run. Good thing I previously had consumed 2 beers prior to today’s event as there were no beer or water checks on trail. A serious hash crime from where my spouse, Sheep Sex and I come from San Diego, California USA, Home of the Original Red Dress Run Hash.We brought along with us a first timer named just Joann. Joann came well prepared for her first hash. At the start, rego fees were collected and names werewritten down for introductions at the Circle End. Some self introductions weremade to the 15 to 20 of us there. We were briefed for the hash with bilingualsignage and told to expect a 7-8 Km trail, respecting peace and quiet in someneighborhoods and sanctuaries.

We began following chalk marks through the streets and up nto some very pretty foliage to a lots of plastic branch like stairs which took us up into a Shrine like area. The tail continued down and into another park like area which appeared to also be shrine like in nature with a huge water pond which Joann took pictures of. From this point on back to the streets and up a long hill we went, whichI overheard Asslicker saying something like, “here goes the Tokyo Marathon”.This led us up onto a 360 degree viewing structure of Yokahama Bay. It was veryclear as, I was feeling chilled as the sun was setting. We were told we hadalready gone 10 to 11 Km. I was getting dilerious, thirsty and dehydrated tothe point I wasn’t seeing the chalk markings as clearly as I had earlier. ThisI attribute to Beer Starvation. It was pointed out to me by Asslicker that itwasn’t my sensation of Beer Starvation, but that the Hares indeed were tryingto salvage a return on their yen for return of chalk.

Well, most of us finally made it in with the exception of Sheep Sex and Joann. We about gave them up for lost, until the very well prepared Joann called me from her cell phone asking, “Where the hell are the chalk marks”? Followed by, “Are we close to the end”? Having told me that they were just beginning to make the climb to the observation tower hill, I suggested that they make their way to the end.

When they did finallymake it in, Sweat Tea conducted the down-down circle to which he explained the custom here having the Hares go inside the circle for comments or suggestions about their trail. It was revealed to me that derogatory punishing down-downs were not the mainstay of this hash, or much singing.

Refreshments were plentiful at the circle as well as the variety of beer, champagne, wine, and sake.

Unfortuately, we did not attend the OnOn, but from the photos I've seen, we missed a really good meal.

I thank the H4 for allowing me to write this and look forward to more hashing with Hayama H4.
