liquid lines

the Fall 2023 Alice C. Cole '42 Studio Project Grant Exhibition

Breslin Bell '18 and Juyon Lee '18

Jewett Art Gallery

Nov. 1 - Dec. 8, 2023

liquid lines is an exhibition of new work by Breslin Bell ’18 and Juyon Lee ’18. Bell and Lee are two of the recipients of the 2022-23 Alice C. Cole ’42 Studio Project Grant.

Both artists work across disciplines, merging traditional media like printmaking and photography with architectural installations and contemporary uses of materials. Breslin Bell's practice operates across feminisms and feminized rights, and explores the act of being an artist while inhabiting a feminized body that resides within a space of political, social, or economic marginality. Juyon Lee's work explores the ideas of transience, ephemerality, and the limits and fluidity in the perception of space and time with multidimensional works that make use of ethereal materials like light and air.

The Alice C. Cole '42 Studio Project Grant provides project-based support to recent Wellesley College graduates for the development, production, and exhibition of new work in painting and sculpture, whatever those disciplines may mean to the artist. The fund enables promising recent graduates to set aside time for artistic development as well as to purchase materials, rent studio space, or access facilities for the creation of new projects.

liquid lines was on view in the Jewett Art Gallery from Nov. 1 - Dec. 8, 2023.
