Art History and Media Arts & Sciences major
I value art that focuses on underrepresented individuals and their cultural history. I enjoy creating pieces that engage with myriad sensorial experiences, such as sculpture, multimedia work, and textural objects. Anything visually or physically tactile is what fuels my passion and creativity.

This project is centered on the reclamation of our own humanity through active sensorial experiences and engagement. I worked with materials found on Wellesley College campus, such as harvesting cattails and bamboo from the surrounding nature. Objects made from found materials occupied the Japanese Garden in the art library. I wanted to draw attention to the overlooked environment and transform the ordinary into meaningful expressions of presence and memory. The repetitive motion of sweeping, weeding, and piling became a ritual to which the body serves as a site of remembrance and labor. These bodily actions hold both personal and collective histories. A book documenting the process of this Independent Study was also made by repurposing the cattails for the book covers.
