My photography documents my life and the lives of those around me. I make photographs because I know there will be a time when I cannot remember the little moments that I share with the people I love. The seemingly mundane moments are the most beautiful and enjoyable parts of my life, but they can be the hardest to remember. I choose to make images that frequently feel more informal and meant for spaces like scrapbooks and phone galleries because they are the images that we choose to create every day to remember the people around us. Through photographs, I hold my love.

Linger is an exploration of both how I have been shaped by my community and the process of collaborative art-making with that community. For this project, I handed out cameras and film to my friends and asked them to use the roll of film to capture whatever they wanted. Each of them chose to do this differently, some had a clear concept and plan, but others simply carried the camera with them.
I wanted the images made by my collaborators and me over this year to be in conversation with each other. In book format, they create a narrative that captures how all of the complex and busy aspects of our lives are made of many beautiful, mundane moments. The book allows these moments to exist intimately; to be held, to be carried, and to be given.
