My work explores the fragmentation of memory through layering and transparency. My primary focus is to capture the experience of being human by piecing together disparate parts of memory.
Marks that come spontaneously but that keep appearing in different iterations become central to the construction of meaning in my work. A book, a piece of paper, a textile, become the space where multiple moments accumulate to create their own memory.

This project focuses on the ways in which we can capture the essence of being within a work of art. I experiment with the theme of portraiture; what does it mean for something to be a portrait and how can that documentation encapsulate the experience of being? By printing and layering materials and images, I work with the idea of memory, of the recreation of memory and the ways in which we remember ourselves. I bring together disparate fragments of experience and material into one body, in this case the body of a book. In this work I curate myself into a series of artist books with clear beginnings, somewhat clear endings, but a multiplicity of readings making them surrogates for my own evolving sense of being human.
