VSON Walk-In Care Guidelines
General Information:
Billed as a specialty visit (not ER care).
Expect wait times due to doctors having full schedules.
Some insurances do not recognize VSON as a walk-in clinic—patients should verify with their insurance provider (call the number on the back of the card).
Eligibility for Walk-In Care:
Recent injuries only (within 48-72 hours).
Chronic conditions or injuries outside this window require a scheduled appointment.
Back or rib pain from trauma must be discussed with the walk-in team before confirming an appointment.
Patients NOT Eligible for Walk-In Care:
Work Comp Patients: Must see their PCP first and obtain authorization.
Specific Conditions Not Treated:
Facial fractures
Headaches
Cuts and lacerations
Head injuries or concussions
Animal bites
Pain management cases
Routine prescription refills
Acute neck or back injuries from falls or collisions
Billing & Scheduling Policies:
All walk-in patients must meet standard billing requirements.
Patients seeking a second opinion or who have already seen another orthopedic or podiatric provider for the same issue must schedule a regular appointment.
Rechecks should be scheduled on regular clinic days before utilizing walk-in slots.
Walk-in patients should not be turned away unless their condition is outside VSON’s scope or they do not meet financial guidelines.
Walk-In Clinic Hours:
Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (year-round).
Lunch break: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM (patients presenting during this time will be seen at 1:00 PM).
A backup physician will be assigned.
Spine Injuries:
Spine injuries are NOT accepted in walk-in care due to liability risks.
Traumatic spine injuries should be directed to the Emergency Room.
Non-traumatic acute back pain cases will be referred to the spine scheduling team for appropriate care.
