The Mineshaft requires a 1x2 opening beneath the structure marker.

If there is lava or water behind a block the Miner is mining, the Miner will stop mining and the Mineshaft will become invalid until the liquid is removed. The player must remove the liquid manually.

The Mineshaft will only be valid if it is within the village border. Miners will cease mining at the border and will not go beyond it.
