Students during the Craft and Technology Fiesta Day
Each year, the school organises a Craft and Technology Learning Fiesta as a post-examination activity for Secondary 1 students. This full-day event features a range of engaging, hands-on activities curated by the Art, Design and Technology (D&T), Food and Consumer Education (FCE), and Music departments.
This year’s theme, “SG60”, celebrated Singapore’s 60th anniversary by encouraging students to explore the nation’s heritage while also showing appreciation for the elderly population — recognising their resilience, contributions, and the challenges they face as they age. Through the use of Design Thinking, students applied creativity, empathy, and problem-solving skills to design meaningful and purposeful projects.
In Food and Consumer Education, students prepared a healthier version of banana pudding with reduced sugar and added dietary fibre, promoting nutritious eating habits. Design & Technology students designed and crafted badges and pins as thoughtful gifts for the elderly, encouraging empathy and intergenerational connection. In Art, students collaborated on an Exquisite Corpse drawing activity, contributing individually to a shared artwork that resulted in creative and surprising outcomes. Meanwhile, in Music, students worked together to perform songs of their choice using boomwhackers, experimenting with rhythm, melody, and coordination. The activity not only nurtured teamwork and musical expression but also captured the unity, creativity, and celebratory spirit of Singapore’s 60th year.
