The 4D3N Secondary 1 Outdoor Adventure Learning Camp (OALC) took place in week 2 of Term 3 at the MOE Jalan Bahtera Outdoor Adventure Learning Centre. Using the outdoors as a ‘classroom’ for learning and growth, the camp offered our Secondary 1 students a unique opportunity to step out of their comfort zones, work together as teams, and tackle a variety of outdoor challenges.
Throughout the camp, students participated in activities such as kayaking, outdoor cooking, high elements, night walk, and the much-anticipated campfire. Each challenge encouraged them to test their limits, communicate effectively, and support one another with empathy and respect. The experience called for diligence and tenacity as students overcame their fears and persevered through physical and mental challenges. The campfire night was a highlight — filled with songs, cheers, and laughter — as students celebrated their growth, friendships, and shared achievements.
By the end of the camp, students not only developed resilience and a spirit of adventure, but also forged a greater sense of camaraderie and belonging within their cohort. The camp experience embodied the school’s STRIDE values of Service, Tenacity, Respect, Integrity, Diligence, and Empathy. Students returned to school with lasting memories, stronger bonds, and a renewed confidence in their ability to rise above challenges — together.
Students kicked off the camp with a series of engaging activities — from first-aid orientation and water confidence tests to class flag-making and bonding games — building essential skills and teamwork for the adventure ahead.
Outdoor cooking was a highlight as students and teachers teamed up to prepare hearty meals — and devoured their creations with pride and laughter!
Braving their fears, our Sec 1 students took on the high elements course with courage and determination, completing each obstacle with confidence and a strong sense of accomplishment.
From courage in the air to strength in the water, students paddled in unison with their classmates and teachers, discovering teamwork and resilience through kayaking.
As the 4D3N camp came to a close, students celebrated their achievements and took home valuable lessons, friendships, and memories that will stay with them throughout their learning journey.
