Springfield Welcomes Li Ming Junior High (Taiwan)
In August, Springfield Secondary School welcomed Li Ming Junior High from Taiwan for a two-day cultural exchange programme. Jointly helmed by the Internationalisation Committee and the Student Leadership Committee, our Secondary 2 student leaders warmly hosted the guests and curated a range of authentic learning experiences. The programme included a school tour, sustainability-themed coaster making, traditional Singaporean games, a local snack tasting session, as well as a Social Studies board game designed by the Humanities Department. Through the boardgame, students also explored and discussed the ageing society issue — a shared challenge faced in both Singapore and Taiwan.
This exchange allowed Springfielders to learn beyond the classroom and deepen cross-cultural understanding through real interaction with peers from another country. Students exercised communication, collaboration, adaptability and critical thinking while applying what they have learnt in meaningful, real-world contexts. The experience strengthened global awareness and intercultural competence — key 21st Century Competencies that prepare our students to thrive as confident, compassionate and active global citizens.
