It’s Drama Time!
“The theatre is not a place; it’s a state of mind.”
— Peter Brook
2025 will be remembered by our thespians—not just for the performances, but for the growth, resilience, and teamwork that theatre demanded. As the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Central Judging year for Performing Arts, Springfielders took to the stage with confidence, creativity, and a stronger sense of ensemble.
Preparations began in 2024, with students dedicating countless hours during Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) sessions and school holidays to hone their craft. In March, they attended a two-day SYF preparation camp, focusing on performance skills, ensemble work, and stage confidence. Behind the final ten minutes on stage lay hundreds of man-hours from the cast, wardrobe, props, lighting crew, and teachers-in-charge—a true collective effort recognised with the Certificate of Accomplishment.
In May, students deepened their skills at a Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) acting workshop, exploring stage presence, emotional connection, and character development through games, improvisation, and scene work. The workshop also highlighted how theatre skills apply beyond performing arts.
It wasn’t all work and no play: our thespians enjoyed “Fat Kids Are Harder To Kidnap: The Musical” by HOW Theatre, experiencing the magic of theatre from the audience’s perspective. In September, they performed a skit at the Teachers’ Day Concert, showing appreciation for teachers with a memorable performance. They also showcased the Drama Club at the school Open House in November for Primary 6 students and parents.
2025 was a busy—and rewarding—year for the Drama Club, filled with creativity, learning, and collaboration. Here’s to 2026! 🎭
