Secondary 2 STEMpathy VIA Programme:
Intergenerational Learning Programme in Partnership with Family Central
In May 2025, our Secondary 2 students led the annual STEMpathy VIA Programme, an intergenerational learning experience that brought seniors and students together through sustainability, creativity, and hands-on fun.
Each session began with STEMpathy microgreens planting, where seniors reminisced about kampong days while learning to grow fresh produce with guidance from our students. Lively conversations and shared smiles made this simple activity a meaningful bridge across generations.
Across four themed workshops, each class hosted a different activity: Pickleball, Sustainable Soapmaking, Linocut Printmaking, and Sashiko-inspired Sewing. Seniors and students enjoyed discovering new skills side by side, whether they were rallying through friendly matches, crafting soap from natural ingredients, carving prints, or upcycling textiles into creative pieces.
The programme was entirely student-led, and our students demonstrated confidence, empathy, and teamwork as they guided seniors through each activity. They also ensured that every participant felt supported and welcome.
Short, heartfelt, and hands-on, the 2025 STEMpathy VIA Programme reminded us that learning and giving become most meaningful when we do them together.
