Ms Eleanor Chia
Dear Springfield Family,
As we look back on 2025, there are many good things for us to celebrate as a school community. It has been a year marked by growth, affirmation, and collective effort, one where our students, staff, parents, and partners came together to create meaningful learning experiences and lasting memories.
At the start of the year, we welcomed a larger intake of Secondary One students. While this may partly be attributed to the Dragon Year, it is also heartening to know that families are choosing Springfield because of our robust outreach efforts, and because the wider community is hearing about, and seeing, the good work happening in our school. This affirmation encourages us to continue striving to provide a nurturing and enabling environment for every student.
We began the year with our Start-It-Right programme, where our student leaders rose to the challenge by taking on a larger role in inducting our new Secondary One students. Their warmth and guidance helped our juniors feel welcomed into the Springfield family and start their secondary school journey on a positive note. Throughout the year, our student leaders have continued to grow from strength to strength, leading initiatives such as Inclusivity Week, fostering a positive study culture through organised study sessions, and our Secondary Three leaders step up to organise Grad Fest for the graduating cohort. These efforts reflect student leadership in action, grounded in service and responsibility.
Our students also distinguished themselves in co-curricular achievements, particularly in the National School Games and the Singapore Youth Festival. With national and league top-four placings in sports, as well as Certificates of Commendation and Achievement for our visual and performing arts groups, these accomplishments speak volumes of the commitment, effort, and teamwork shown by our students throughout months of training and preparation.
Beyond the CCAs, our students made commendable strides in research and STEM competitions, pushing themselves beyond their comfort zones. What stood out was not only their creativity and problem-solving skills, but also their empathy and using human-centred thinking to design thoughtful solutions to real-world challenges.
In the area of sustainability, we are proud to have attained the Vanda Miss Joaquim Award at the highest tier for the second year running. This achievement reflects our collective commitment to environmental stewardship, through initiatives such as Meat-Free Day, second-hand clothes swaps, and ongoing recycling efforts. These experiences have helped our students understand that sustainability is not just a concept, but a way of life.
Academically, we are encouraged by the improved and sustained results in the GCE N- and O-Level examinations, a testament to the perseverance of our students, the dedication of our teachers, and the strong partnership with parents in supporting learning.
Equally heartening has been the positive feedback from our stakeholders – parents, partners, and the wider community, about our school programmes and the commendable actions of our students. Such affirmations remind us that education is a shared endeavour, and that character and values are as visible as achievements.
As we close the year, let us take time to reminisce about the many heart-warming memories and be grateful for those who have made them possible. To our staff, who teach and care with so much heart and consistently go the extra mile; to our students, who give their best and look out for and serve others; to our parents, whose invaluable partnership has helped us achieve so much; to our School Advisory Committee members, for their unwavering support; and to our community partners, whose encouragement continues to uplift our school and students – thank you.
Thank you everyone, for a meaningful and enriching 2025. May we continue to journey together towards Better Selves for a Better Tomorrow.
