Sparking Collaboration through Design Thinking
Held at Jewel Changi Airport, the Craft & Technology Department Retreat 2025 was a vibrant and energising experience that brought teachers on an Amazing Race-inspired journey. Teachers from Art, Music, Design and Technology, and Food and Consumer Education worked in teams to solve creative clues, navigate key locations, and uncover insights about Singapore’s architecture, culture, and businesses.
Through this shared experience, teachers explored how such real-world topics could be woven into authentic classroom learning. Discussions centred around how subject matter across the department could intersect through design thinking, problem-solving, and collaborative planning.
The retreat not only encouraged staff to step into their students’ shoes but also seeded ideas for future interdisciplinary projects that connect national contexts with curriculum goals.
The experience strengthened team spirit and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to designing meaningful, engaging, and context-rich learning experiences that spark curiosity and build relevant, future-ready skills in students.
