Method of Loci

This method uses visualization to organize and recall information.

It works on the assumption that it is easier for us to remember locations that are familiar to us.

If we relate objects to these locations, it becomes easy for us to memorize then recall the objects as we visualize walking through the area.

Steps to Use Methods of Loci

(Memory Palace)

•	One. Place. Choose a familiar building, route, or space. For example: your home, the walk to town, or your kitchen. •	Two. Path. Define a set route. You will need to stop along the route so if it’s your home use different rooms, for a walk use landmarks, and for the kitchen use cupboards and drawers. •	Three. Location. At each stop, pick areas to “store” presentation ideas or shopping list items. •	Four. Placing. Place the items or objects you need to remember along the stopping points in the order that they need to be memorized. •	Five. Drawing. To commit it to your memory, draw the place by hand with symbols for your ideas or list in their respective locations. Or else write it in a list form.
