PRQST method

This method basically has the same components as the SQ3R Method.

How does it work?

In this method you follow five steps - Preview, Question, Read, Self-recite and Test (PQRST).

The middle three steps apply to every section within a chapter while the first and last steps apply to the chapter itself.

You may find that many textbooks are compiled in a way which makes this method easy to apply, using an introductory passage, and questions at the end.

PRQST Reading Method – PRQST is a 3-step method to help you better retain what you read. Step 2 contains three parts, each of which are used for each section of what you are reading. Step 1.	Preview – This is close to the SQ3R method of surveying the text. Give yourself 5-10 minutes to look at titles, graphs, pictures, captions, etc. to get the “gist” of the chapter contents. Step 2. a.	Read - Read one section of the text. Put a light checkmark in the margin next to important information. b.	Question - Go back and create and write down a question for each of the topics you marked with checkmarks. Underline the answer in the text. c.	Self-Recite - Cover the information in the text and recite out loud the answers to the questions. Mark the ones you have problems remembering or understanding. This step also includes studying the topics. Step 3.	Test - Recite the answers to all of the questions that you created and wrote down throughout the text you are reading.
