Manila folders
Drawings (Available in the CMS)
Scissors.
Glue
Tacky glue (can be used on textures that do not stick with white glue)
Tape
Colors or markers
Different textures (felt, sponge, Band-Aid, sandpaper, wooden stick, feather and rubber band)
Yarn
Introduction:
The sense of touch is one of our most important senses, It is one of the first senses that develops in a human being and is active from before birth, Sensory play encourages development of cognitive skills, speech and language, fine motor skills and social emotional, which is essential for children and what better than to explore them through play in a safe environment.
Procedure:
Write with markers or colors the title of the cover “Touch and Feel Book”. Write in the last page (back cover) a dedication to the child.
Color and cut out the 8 drawings.
Paste the drawings with the corresponding texture on each of the folder sheets:
Teddy bear - Felt (On the teddy bear we would need to make a hole in the belly and paste the felt under the image)
Window - Sponge
Band-aid - Band-aid
Sandbox - Sandpaper
Bedroom - Wooden stick
Bird - Feather
Paddle ball - Rubber band (For added security, place a piece of tape between the book page and the rubber band).
Create the book by passing the yarn through the top hole of each of the leaves then tie a knot at the back of the book, repeat this procedure for the bottom hole of the book.
