School Readiness - Physical and Motor Development

Physical and motor development is one of the four domains that supports school readiness. So far you have learned about the social and emotional domain, the language and literacy domain, and the  cognitive development domain and how to support children with the development of these skills so that they are ready for school. 

In this lesson you will learn more about about the fourth school readiness domain, the physical and motor development domain. 

Physical and motor development means the physical growth and strengthening of a child’s bones, muscles, and ability to move and touch his/her surroundings.

A child’s motor development falls into two categories: fine motor and gross motor. The video below talks about the difference between fine and gross motor skills.
