Materials:
Small cans - 8 oz.
Butcher paper for lining
Clear Tape
Scissors
Cardboard paper (cereal boxes or cardboard)
Different materials to create sounds inside the boats. (rice, beans, sugar, coins, stones, lentils, etc.)
Introduction:
Shaking the sound canisters stimulates the auditory sense and therefore the development of the brain to increase speech language. Different cans will make different sounds, which encourages when playing this sensory practice. This activity helps develop your child intelligence, the ability to identify and follow sounds from side to side, and develop fine and gross motor skills by holding and shaking the cans.
Procedure:
Remove the label from the cans, wash and dry.
Draw 6 rectangles on the butcher paper to line the cans, measuring the height and length with the can and cutting.
Draw on the butcher paper the cans on the bottom (12 circles) leaving 1 inch wide and cut out.
Draw the cans on the cardboard from the bottom (12 circles) leaving 1 inch wide and cut out.
Put the different materials inside the cans (one type of material per can).
Cover the cans with the cardboard circles, sticking them with adhesive tape to the open part and the bottom of the cans.
Cover the cardboard circles, sticking the butcher paper on top with adhesive tape.
Line the cans completely with the “butcher paper” rectangles, sticking with adhesive tape tape lengthwise until completely covered.
NOTE: The cans should be the SAME in size and color to achieve the auditory discrimination, for which any design should be avoided in each can.
