Hello Thursday Families!

It was so nice to back in the classroom today! Even though the break flew by, the combination of those weeks in addition to being absent last week felt like such a long time!

We started today's class with watching this short video about Galatians 5:14, "For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." We had a discussion about what this verse means, and how we can apply it in our daily lives! A couple of students even shared that they hadn't really thought of or interpreted this verse in the way the speaker in the video, Sadie Robertson, spoke about it. I then read a corresponding devotional, A True Neighbor,  that closed with this thought: "take a moment to consider the people around you who could use your help. Then, ask God to reveal how you can love and serve them this week."

PHYSICAL SCIENCE

Today's class began with a review of Chapter 32, Moving Pictures, and was followed with a video on how 3D works! This was followed with an experiment/activity from our textbook, "Make Your Own Movie," where students created their own flip books with post-its! We also watched a short stop-motion video created by two students from the Tuesday 5th/6th grade class that involved a fun story with Legos! We wrapped up class with reading the Conclusion of our textbook and an exercise on God's creations.

AMERICAN HISTORY

When we returned from the 10 minute break, we began class with the Pledge of Allegiance and Pledge to the Bible. The remainder of class was spent with several students sharing their Spring Final Projects. We learned about September 11th, the Hollywood Sign, and the Battle of Gettysburg! Unfortunately, we ran out of time and will continue presentations next week. To those that presented today, GREAT JOB!! And to those that brought their projects to present, they look AWESOME and please take care of them when you bring them back to class next week!

IEW

Upon returning from the rainy break, (I think many of us have had enough rain for now, right?!), we started class with the last part of one student's history project presentation since we had to pause it for the break! We then went over school announcements which led to an impromptu discussion about plans for next school year and several students sharing their thoughts on homeschooling. As it is teacher appreciation week, it seems very fitting to acknowledge all of you parents for all the great work you're doing to create a positive homeschooling experience for your families! We then moved into this week's Goals, and our #6 VSS (aka very short sentence), dress-up which will be the last dress-up to be included in their IEW Spring Final Projects due next week, 5/11!
