HELLO FAMILIES!

Today our devotional was about the Power of Faith. The bible verse from our devotional was "{Jesus} said to her, "Dear woman, your faith has healed you. Go in peace. You are free from your suffering." Mark 5:34

Students listened to the story of the woman who was healed by her faith in Christ, and some students chose to share about times in their lives when they've turned to God for help! Can I just say, I love hearing about how much family pets and younger siblings are cared for and worried about? It's so very sweet!

PHYSICAL SCIENCE

After we reviewed Lesson 3, Conservation of Energy and Lesson 4, Conservation of Momentum, we watched a fun short video that tested mass and velocity! Students formed into small groups and discussed the law of conservation of energy (energy can not be created or destroyed; it can only change forms), as well as the law of conservation of momentum (momentum of a system after a collision must be the same as the momentum before the collision). Students observed or voluntarily participated in a short momentum experiment using marbles!

US HISTORY

We started off saying the Pledge of Allegiance and our morning prayer! Due to 5th and 6th grade picture day falling on our history class time, our class was shortened to about half the time. We were still able to review Chapter 2, The Three Great Discoveries, and students volunteered to present the explorer that they chose from their homework to the class, along with several interesting facts about their explorer. They did such a great job! We were also able to get about halfway through our FIRST QUIZ GAME which covered chapters 1 & 2!

IEW

Well, it was extra awesome to see how many students volunteered to share and present their Key Word Outlines by re-telling the fable, The Ant and the Grasshopper from their homework!! Well done! As a class, we reviewed Lesson 1: note making, structure, and style. We talked about examples of what structure and style is in our writing and how important both of these are in order to have a plan as well as give interesting and descriptive details. Lastly, we reviewed how we build KWO's by reading The Trumpeter Taken Prisoner while students circled 2-3 key words that tell the main idea of the lines/story.
