Today's devotional was a little different than how we've shared in the previous weeks! We watched a short video which taught about how God is always with us, and how even "small" deeds or acts of kindness make him happy. We talked about how God is always watching, and how we carry ourselves should reflect that! Our Bible verse today was "Surely I am with you always to the very end of age." ~ Matthew 28:20

Physical Science - After reviewing the What Did We Learn questions and answers from Chapter 14 on Wheels & Axles, 15 on Gears, & 16 on Pulleys, we watched a short video on Gears, (specificallly, the gear system on a bicycle). Students were able to "Show & Tell" an object/simple machine that either uses gears or a lever (from their homework). We wrapped up the hour with an activity on pulleys that included a wooden dowel, yarn, and a water bottle! Students were able to test the different ways that a pulley has mechanical advantage!

American History - After our Pledge of Allegiance and Pledge to the Bible, we discussed the upcoming Fall Final Project for American History! It's so neat to see the wheels turning as students were asking questions about their projects! For more details about the projects, please go to the Fall Final Projects tab! We then did a recap of Chapter 6 Review Questions, and played a Northeast States & Capitals quiz game! Students teamed up with classmates seated at their tables, and worked together to identify the states and capitals from the Northeast Region from memory! The winning team will receive an extra punch in their punch cards that they received today! *Please ask them about our new punch card system that we've begun implementing! Our closing prayer ended class before our short break!

IEW - It's always so fun when students are eager to share their writing! Today Isaiah, Hudson, Josiah, and Kaia each volunteered to share their paragraphs on The Mule and his Buyer while Kaiden, Matthew, Caleb, and Sophia each checked off the "dress-ups" on the board that they heard from the checklist! We then introduced the new writing structure, in Lesson 6: Part 1, Story Sequence Chart. This is very different from the writing we have done up to this point and your students may need additional guidance from you. This video is a great introductory for parents/teachers who may be new to this style of writing.

Lastly, we read the Goals for Lesson 6: Theseus and the Minotaur, Part 1, the Background Information, New Structure, The Story Sequence Chart, and the source text. We wrapped up the day with watching a short video on Theseus and the Minotaur before class was dismissed!
