Hello Thursday Families!

It was so good to be back in class today! We continued on the topic of last week's devotional with Mrs. Ayala with a short video on Lent. The Bible verse for today was Daniel 9:3,  "So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes."

ALSO, as a friendly reminder, we have one more week of the Read-A-Thon! Our class could really use your participation to reach our goal of 300 minutes per student, or 30 mins/day, so we can win an Ice Cream Party! Additionally, when students collect sponsorhip, they will earn half of what they raise to go right back to them by covering their BHA tuition next year! Please click the links above in the announcements for additional info/guidelines/tracking sheets!

PHYSICAL SCIENCE

After our devotional and opening prayer (thank you, Isaiah!) and a class conversation catching up on the last two weeks (and this crazy southern California weather we've had!), we began Physical Science getting caught up with reviews of Chapter 12, Jet Engines, Chapter 13, Airplanes, and Chapter 14, Rocket Engines! With Career Day last week, we packed today's class the last two weeks of chapter review questions, and will continue next week where we left off with Chapter 15! We then went over the Jet Engine worksheet (from homework), and watched a short video on Bernoulli's Principle before wrapping up class with a test of the Paper Airplane designs (also from homework)! See pic below!

AMERICAN HISTORY

Following the Pledge of Allegiance and Pledge to the Bible, we opened with the Southwest Region Quiz. Next we reviewed Chapter 22, War on Sea and Land and Chapter 23, The Wealth of Peace. Students then began working on coloring their Abraham Lincoln portrait pieces while listening to the information that was gathered from Anna and Kaiden's Inventor Biography worksheets. The homework from 2/16 will be reassigned this week to allow students to finish the writing portion that will be paired with their Abraham Lincoln portrait pieces for our Open House (please see the Printable Homework for this week for more info on this). Before students were dismissed for their break, we reviewed the Spring Final project options and Kaia led our closing prayer.

IEW

Upon returning from recess, we went over school announcements. I then shared an awesome writing sample from one of our student's compositions,The Ugly Duckling. In addition to a well-done story, he checked off everything from the current checklist (great job, Hudson!)! Next, Isaiah and Kaia each shared their stories on The Tiger Tamer! I really enjoyed hearing the creative details you added to your stories! We then watched the trailer for the original Peter Pan movie as an intro to our next lesson. We also went over the Goals for this week, had a mini review on the structural model, Writing from Pictures, and had just enough time to look at the pictures on page 135 to begin a discussion on this before starting the KWO's.

If your student would like additional info on the #2 Prepositional Opener, Mrs. Ayala shared THIS short video that may be helpful! And as always, if you have any questions at all, please feel free to reach out to me :)
