Today, we began a short video series about Christmas, beginning with The Promise of a Savior. Over the next couple of weeks we will learn more about (and perhaps, be reminded of) the birth of Christ! Our Bible verse for the day is, "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God., Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6

PHYSICAL SCIENCE

What a fun day in science! We reviewed Chapter 27 on Circular Motion, and then headed outside to test angular momentum! Everyone had a chance to see for themselves how water will not spill out of a cup in circular motion even when it is swung upside down! (see pics below!) We then reviewed Chapter 28 (Motion of Planets) and observed centripetal force using a tennis ball and string! We wrapped up class with a review of Lesson 29 on periodic motion before collecting homework!

AMERICAN HISTORY

After saying the Pledge of Allegiance and Pledge to the Bible and opening prayer, we discussed the Final Project guidelines and scoring criteria. We got straight into State Presentations and learned fun and interesting facts about Florida, Washington, Texas, New York, and Alaska! Students did a stupendous job with their posters and presentations! Next week we will complete presentations!

IEW

After going over school announcements, we spent a good amount of time reviewing chapter 11, Neverland. We went over the new approach of how Key Word Outlines are done in this lesson by taking key words from important facts found in the source text. We then reviewed the topic clincher rule and worked together on the KWO for Neverland. We did have a bit of a detour from our lesson today for an impromptu class discussion on Christmas! It was wonderful to hear about different Christmas experiences being shared!
