HELLO FAMILIES and Happy November!

Today's Bible verse was "Yet you, Lord are our father. we are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand." ~ Isaiah 64:8

We also read about and discussed just how special and perfectly made each and every one of us are. I know that as parents, we do our best to teach our kids and remind them that they are one-of-a-kind, and this verse nearly brought me to tears as I read it and looked around our class at God's masterpieces! How awesome to be reminded that God is perfect and the ultimate artist, and has "sculpted every detail about you into something unique and lovable!"

During our opening prayer, given by Isaiah (thank you, Isaiah!), a few prayer requests were included for some dear friends and family's health.

PHYSICAL SCIENCE

Following our devotional and opening prayer, students took a 7 minute table quiz on Unit 3! We will grade them together next week! We then checked off vocabulary homework, and reviewed the Unit 4 Goals. After watching a short video on Newton's First Law of Motion, we reviewed Chapter 21, and did our first activity (of 2), which included observing what happens to an object at rest when force is applied! This experiment included a cup of water, a coin, and a card for part of it - making it super easy to duplicate and show you at home! Next, we reviewed Chapter 22 on the Second Law of Motion, and completed our second activity that involved 2 skateboards, a hammer (we were very careful!), and a can of beans!

AMERICAN HISTORY

Upon returning from recess break, we dove right into our Christian Americans Presentations! Several students chose to share interesting facts and history about George Washington. We then reviewed Chapters 9 & 10 where we discussed some history about John Edwards, George Whitefield, David Brainerd, George Washington, and General Braddock (just to name a few...or a bit more)! We began wrapping up class with a conversation about our Class Elections that will be held next week! Lastly, Hudson and Anna each shared the class seals that they created! Great job!!

IEW

After going over school announcements, I shared a student's writing example to help with understanding the checklists that have been included in weekly writing assignments! Though we have several students that are familiar with IEW, I know there are some students that are not very familiar and may have questions. Please feel free to reach out, and I will do my best to assist! Next, we were able to listen to one student share their paragraphs on Daedalus and Icarus, while another student listened for the checklist items. Following this, students were introduced to Lesson 9, Bellerophon and the Chimera, read the Goals, watched a short video on the myth, and discussed some of the events that took place in it! Before class ended, we reviewed the layout of a Story Sequence Chart (aka SCC), our New Style: Because Clause, and worked together as a class to complete page 70. We ran out of time to work on page 71 in class, so this will be added to the recommended homework!
