For our devotional today we watched a short video that spoke about Psalm 18:2, The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. We then went around the class and students shared their response to the question, " How can you rely on God this week?"

PHYSICAL SCIENCE

The majority of our class was spent on students sharing their Fall Final Project! Students were asked to either make/design a machine (with the guidelines given) or to write a research paper on their chosen physicist (again, with the guidelines given). We learned more about Albert Einstein, a solar powered Crab-bot, a Ukulele, and a Water Bottle Boat! Since we had a few classmates absent today (we missed you three!), we will continue presentations next week with Kaia, Isaiah, Anna, Caleb, Erin, and Sophia! We had a bit of time left over so several students got a head start on homework and several completed the Morse code worksheet, while a couple students who had already finished the worksheet, jumped into the reading for next week!

AMERICAN HISTORY

After our Pledge of Allegiance and Pledge to the Bible, we watched a virtual field trip (click here to check it out!) on the Midwest Region. Students were then given a bit of time to review before taking the Midwest Region quiz. Next, we went over chapter 16, The Voyage of our Grand Republic. We wrapped up class with three students giving their best shot at reciting the Preamble to the Constitution (thank you Hudson, Josiah, and Sophia!), and watched one more video on the Constitutional Convention & Ratification (click here to watch).

IEW

Following school announcements, Sophia shared her writing assignment on Aesop, while Hudson listened for our checklist items (dress-ups, -ly adverb, who/which clause, because clause, topic-clincher rule, title). We then jumped into Lesson 14, where we read the goals for this lesson as well as our final dress-up; the www.asia clause (p.104). This clause has a bit of a funny name (we ended up re-naming it in class for kicks, but still kept the same letters!), and is NOT a website! www.asia helps us to remember that they begin with when, while, where, as, since, if, although.

Here are some additional helpful bullet points on this clause:

  1. To indicate a www.asia clause, underline only the first word of the clause: when, while, where, as since, if, although.

  2. A www.asia clause contians a subject and a verb.

Jakob and Wilhelm attended the same schools when they grew up.

They succeeded since their family helped them.

  1. A www.asia clause is added to a sentence that is already complete.

Jakob and Wilhelm attended the same schools when they grew up.

They succeeded since their family helped them.

  1. If a www.asia clause follows a complete sentence, no comma is needed.

Next, we completed the Practice on p. 104 as well as the Style Practice on p. 105 together as a class. Lastly, we discussed this week's vocabulary words, devoted and published and used them in some examples.
