HELLO FAMILIES!!

Today we started with our devotional where we continued to focus on What is Faith? The daily bible verse from our devotional was "Commit to the Lord everything you do. Then your plans will succeed" Proverbs 16:3. We talked about taking leaps of faith to show our trust in God! Whether it's befriending someone new at school, or trusting parents with the decisions they make for the family; it all goes back to trusting our faith in God!

PHYSICAL SCIENCE

We reviewed quite a bit today in all subjects, including Physical Science! After going over lessons 5, 6, 7, and 8, along with a short video on Friction (and how important it is in our daily lives when we do everything from walking, to riding in a car, to holding anything), students began their Unit 1 Mechanical Forces Quiz. Well done!

AMERICAN HISTORY

In American History, we discussed our devotional and scripture for the day and went straight into reviewing Chapter 3, Heroic English Settlers. After going over some key points of the chapter, including the history of Captain John Smith, the Pilgrims, Captain Miles Standish (and more!), students shared their skit ideas from their homework. Students were then grouped into 2 groups of 5 to discuss their skits, assign roles amongst their groups, and prepare for performing their skits NEXT WEEK! Students will have an additional 15 minutes to practice next week, but if there are any students that need to get in contact with the peers in their group, please feel free to reach out to me.

IEW

For IEW, we reviewed Lesson 2: The Trumpeter Taken Prisoner, along with the importance of Structure and Style in our writing, the goals in Lesson 2, and the guidelines for Key Word Outlines. Some students shared their Key Word Outlines by retelling "The Trumpeter Taken Prisoner" in their own words and it really is awesome to see the stories come to life! After going over the checklist (p.24), students began their paragraphs where they are rewriting the Trumpeter Taken Prisoner in their own words in complete sentences, and then will ask their editor at home (that may very well be you!) to read their paragraphs while going through the checklist. See the homework checklist for more details!
