Everyone in our learning community is required to follow the LHS Code of Academic Integrity. What does that mean in English class? Whether reading and responding, or crafting and drafting, our focus in on the process. And, in our digital world, we place a premium on authenticity and originality of our work within this process.
We each bear responsibility for demonstrating the authenticity and originality of our work. How do we do that? How can we let others know that our ideas and work product are uniquely our own? The answer lies in the "breadcrumb trail" we each create when we engage in the process of reading and writing. Created over time, this "breadcrumb trail" - part handwritten, part digital - includes every step of the process from reader's responses, "quickwrites" and discussions to drafts, outlines, "final" drafts, revisions, and publication.
Through this "breadcrumb trail" we have the opportunity to demonstrate not only the origins of our own authentic and original thinking but also its evolution throughout the process.
Without this "breadcrumb trail" we fail to demonstrate the authenticity and originality of our work. This invalidates our work. As a result, we would have to begin the full process - from formative through to summative - again, in order to earn credit for our work.
Maintain your reader's notebook, ensuring that all reader's responses, quickwrites, prompt responses, and sketchnotes related to a summative assessment have been completed in a timely manner. This notebook does not leave the classroom without permission.
When specifically indicated in assignment directions, use the identified School AI Chatbots to respond to texts, identify a research focus and more.

Use the paper and file folders provided to create richly detailed outlines/discovery drafts. Once completed, each document must be stamped and validated. While folders must remain in class, stamped and validated documents may be taken out of class as long as they are returned to your course folder. Without this draft work, your final draft will be invalidated and you will have to begin again.
Ensure your digital work provides evidence of your authenticity and originality...
Use only the resources indicated in the Google Classroom assignment posting.
All stamped and validated outline/draft work must first be transcribed (copied) word for word BEFORE you begin any new drafting/editing/revision work.
Build upon your stamped and validated outline/draft work - using only the indicated resources. Draft, craft, edit and revise until complete.
Return the hard copies of your stamped and validated outline/draft work to your course folder. Without this draft work, your final draft will be invalidated and you will have to begin again.
At times, we will intentionally use specific and identified AI tools. There will also be times when we will not use AI. Throughout this course, assume that every learning task we do should be entirely your own authentic and original work - created without consulting AI, unless the directions for a task specifically state that AI is permitted.
