Tuesday 8th Oct.'24 saw a group of Minto Probus members tour the Engineering and Police museums in Holsworthy barracks. These museums display the history of both entities from the beginning to the present day. The actual machinery used in conflicts were on display, and we were dwarfed by the size as we stood beside them.
Both Engineering and Police training are done in the Holsworthy army barracks, and the trainees use the museums to learn about the history of the army and all the conflicts that the Australian Army have been involved in.
The public are also invited to attend the museums and see for themselves how the Engineers build roads and bridges in places that probably never had such before.
We were given a private tour of the police museum and learned the roles that this section of the army play in all the areas that our soldiers are sent to throughout the world.
A truly interesting visit which was followed by lunch at 'Sporties'.
