Manly Beach

Tuesday 22 February 2022

Who would have thought! A planned afternoon outing to Manly to have fish and chips on the beach became a challenge and adventure for members brave enough to face the elements. Sydney came down with heavy rain fall, thunder, lightning, and to top it off, train stoppages. 12 members opted out on this trip, but 5 hearty souls ventured out and all stated it was worth the trip. In fact transport was no problem, with train arriving right on time, then the ferry to Manly was waiting to be boarded. Fun crossing the heads, but not as rough as was thought it would be.

Sitting on the chairs and sipping drinks outside Starbucks, the group continued to enjoy themselves. A little walk on the Promenade with passing walkers and their dogs provided a bit of entertainment, as did the classes of surf board riders braving the not so rough surf.

Dinner consisted of fish and chips, oysters as well, while not eaten on the beach, but close enough in a cafe overlooking the beach.

Returning to the ferry a sudden heavy downpour brought out the raincoats and brollies, as the road was crossed. Ferry waited for our arrival and returned us to the Quay whereupon the train arrived just as we landed on the platform. How lucky can one be.

As usual, a lovely chance to be out and about, even if it was a little damp. A real fun day with enjoyable company.
