On 12th Sept.'23, seven members drove to Katoomba for a 2 night stay at the Carrington Hotel. This old Colonial style building still holds the charms of days gone by. The decor of late 19th Century, with stained glass windows and crystal hanging chandeliers; leather chairs and active fire places; rickety old lift which still transports guests to the upper floors, and a maze of rooms that zig zag between floors.
The dining room maintains that quaint 'old fashioned' look, and served up delicious Devonshire Teas and dinners. A Pianist serenaded us during dinner which created a pleasant atmosphere. And finally, not forgetting the wonderful staff, who saw to all our needs and treated us like royalty.
A trip to Katoomba always involves visiting the "Three Sisters" at Echo Point, which is always a thrill, no matter how many times one has seen them in the past. A visit also to Grose Valley as a group and lunching at Hydro Majestic Cafe before splitting up to explore other areas, or do a little bit of retail spending.
Highly recommended trip for those who are contemplating if they would like to go. Just look for those mid week specials which are just too good to be true, which they are.
