Bruce Shying, our guide, amazed us with many interesting facts of history from the early days of this area of old Sydney town. We wandered from Central station down through Haymarket, Darling Harbour and on to Pyrmont.Â
Among other things we learned where the creeks ran, where bridges and wharves were, the original use for the Pumphouse, things that were invented, and that ice ( the frozen water type) used to be shipped to Sydney from America!
A great group of enthusiastic members and of course finishing the day with lunch at the Pyrmont Bridge Hotel.
