Glenalvon House

Morning tea and a tour by Campbelltown and Airds Historical Society

An excellent morning tea was enjoyed by 20 Minto Probus members on Tuesday 4 February. Our hosts were members of the Campbelltown and Airds Historical Society who provided an excellent feed, a facinating talk about the history of the house and a guided tour of the house, the grounds and the stables, which house their historical agricultral museum.

Built in 1841 Glenalvon House is located at 8 Lithgow St Campbelltown and is the home of Campbelltown and Airds Historical Society. The two story Georgian sandstone residence with a symmetrical facade has period furniture with many interesting artifacts. It sits on large block with manicured gardens in the centre of Campbelltown. Well worth the visit.

A view of the back of the house and the stables.

Many thanks to the members of Campbelltown and Airds Historical Society for their efforts in sharing this great example of Campbelltown's history with our members.
